The Parable of Halloween

Oh the joys of Halloween.. What a great time we had… I tried to use the night as an opportunity to teach Haylin about the blessings of a capitalist county that we live in. And how trick or treating is a lot like entrepreneurship, that is, if you go out and work long enough and hard enough and look for the best parts of the neighborhood you can fill your basket full of all kinds of goodies and treats!

So we went out early for our first round and hit up our side of the neighborhood “testing the market”.
Then we came home and emptied are candy in the bank . (the pantry)

After that we got geared up again and went out to the other side working tell about 9 pm!
With a full basket we journeyed back home with mom carrying the heavy pumpkin basket full of treats.
We got back to the living room and emptied it out again.

She was so excited to see it all on the ground she was nice enough to share some with Tash and I.

After we got it all put back I went on to explain how if Obama won the election that she would have to “spread the wealth” and give her candy to the other kids on the street that stayed home and never went out to trick or treat because it was “to cold” or it was “raining” or they were too “tired” and how unfair that would be and that we call that “socialism” she just gave me a blank stare and didn’t have a clue what I was talking about . (kind of like 60% of the country )

Then I talked about the power of sharing and explained that when we are blessed to go out and trick or treat we need to look for other kids that couldn’t go because of reason’s that they could not get around like if they were sick or hurt and we can share our candy with them just like Heavenly Father would want us to do.

I never thought I would learn so much from a silly holiday like Halloween

P.S. next year if Halloween is going to be as “scary” as I think its going to be Haylin and I will dress up as an Auditor from the K.G.B. oopps I meant I.R.S

HALLOWEEN FUN!

TRICK -OR - TREAT

Here are a few pics of Dr. Robins. We had fun trick-or-treating with the rest of the neighborhood, we really feel fortunate to live in such a great place. We walked pretty far and I was surprised to see how energized Haylin was to walk up to each door and say "tick a teet"! The last couple of houses however she would get her candy and just stand there and stare, it was like her body was falling asleep and her mind kept telling her "mo cany! mo cany!" Anyway it was fun!

Other than Halloween we have just been looking forward to the holidays! I especially seem to be getting more and more hungry... for Turkey, Christmas ham, sweet potatoes.... wow I shouldn't get started it only makes the cravings stronger!!!
