The Parable of Halloween

Oh the joys of Halloween.. What a great time we had… I tried to use the night as an opportunity to teach Haylin about the blessings of a capitalist county that we live in. And how trick or treating is a lot like entrepreneurship, that is, if you go out and work long enough and hard enough and look for the best parts of the neighborhood you can fill your basket full of all kinds of goodies and treats!

So we went out early for our first round and hit up our side of the neighborhood “testing the market”.
Then we came home and emptied are candy in the bank . (the pantry)

After that we got geared up again and went out to the other side working tell about 9 pm!
With a full basket we journeyed back home with mom carrying the heavy pumpkin basket full of treats.
We got back to the living room and emptied it out again.

She was so excited to see it all on the ground she was nice enough to share some with Tash and I.

After we got it all put back I went on to explain how if Obama won the election that she would have to “spread the wealth” and give her candy to the other kids on the street that stayed home and never went out to trick or treat because it was “to cold” or it was “raining” or they were too “tired” and how unfair that would be and that we call that “socialism” she just gave me a blank stare and didn’t have a clue what I was talking about . (kind of like 60% of the country )

Then I talked about the power of sharing and explained that when we are blessed to go out and trick or treat we need to look for other kids that couldn’t go because of reason’s that they could not get around like if they were sick or hurt and we can share our candy with them just like Heavenly Father would want us to do.

I never thought I would learn so much from a silly holiday like Halloween

P.S. next year if Halloween is going to be as “scary” as I think its going to be Haylin and I will dress up as an Auditor from the K.G.B. oopps I meant I.R.S

HALLOWEEN FUN!

TRICK -OR - TREAT

Here are a few pics of Dr. Robins. We had fun trick-or-treating with the rest of the neighborhood, we really feel fortunate to live in such a great place. We walked pretty far and I was surprised to see how energized Haylin was to walk up to each door and say "tick a teet"! The last couple of houses however she would get her candy and just stand there and stare, it was like her body was falling asleep and her mind kept telling her "mo cany! mo cany!" Anyway it was fun!

Other than Halloween we have just been looking forward to the holidays! I especially seem to be getting more and more hungry... for Turkey, Christmas ham, sweet potatoes.... wow I shouldn't get started it only makes the cravings stronger!!!

Summer Love...

Picaso...

Spends time painting...
Spends more time washing it off.

We were Sealed in the Manti Temple

We were Sealed in the Manti Temple July 5th. It was kind of last minute, but what isn't when it comes us?!?! What a great day! So we have some really great pictures (Thanks Pat!) but I will have to post those later.

July 4th!

We went to Salina for the 4th with Garrett's family, Haylin drove (us crazy) most of the way. We had a lot of fun! Garrett brought the pool down and set it up in the back yard with his dad. We played Rock Band, we ate lots of good food, we took family pictures, Haylin ran (stood) in a race, we went to the parade, Haylin jumped and jumped and jumped on the trampoline, we lit and watched lots of fireworks, and last but not least we spent time with family!

I know, I know... I am a blog failure!

So lately I have been keeping up with the lives of everyone else through the blogosphere and realized how much more fun it is to look at blogs rather than post on them,... hence the empty blog many of you have witness on my end. Well today is a new day and I thought what the heck lets post! I will try to catch you up since march with pictures (maybe.. we'll see). From the top down... Haylin has gone ice-skating twice and as you can see she show the other kids whose boss! The next pic. Haylins Easter egg hunt, and the last is Haylins favorite past time of all... playing with puppies (well kinda, through the glass). Ok so there are more to come like Garrett's... I mean Tasha's new truck, Haylin goes grocery shopping, and much much more! Stay tuned!

Haylin made a new friend the other day! We went to a friends house the other night and Haylin and their little girl Alissia (I'm sure I didn't spell that right) became great friends. They had a blast and we had fun watching them giggle and play.

Tea Party Sunday

I just thought I would post this picture because we thought it was cute. Haylin was playing in her room today and was feeding all of her friends. What silly girl. (Don't ask what she's wearing she is very particular about what she is wearing, she gets her sense of style from her dad)

Who's that crazy kid!?!?

Lately Haylin has been having a strange burst of energy right before bed. Tonight she was drawing a picture for daddy (who was on a business trip). I left the room for a brief moment and I came back and she had a mustache. My dad had just left and has a mustache so I thought maybe she was either trying to be like grandpa or was smelling the marker. After coloring she found her necklaces and crown so she dressed up pretty to jump on her bed. And last but not least she had to make those last minute calls before she called it a night. We have one crazy kid but I love her!
